Synopsis

After Lugou Bridge Incident in 1937, Japanese made a massive invasion into China. At the pivotal moment of life and death, Kuo Min Tang, the Nationalist Party couldn’t cover the inner corruption and the combative air force couldn’t withstand a single blow in front of Japanese army. On the occasion of difficulty, a group of young motivated pilots mounted in the air force, such as Gao Yuntian and Liu Changling. They defeated the superior enemy for many times in the air war. They perseveringly undertook life-and-death fights with Japanese air force. Every youth knew that they should protect country at all cost, even an inch of mountains and rivers. Under such bad circumstances, a fire of love burned quietly - Liu Changling, the squadron leader of the pilots loved Ma Xinlan, the captain of intelligence bureau. However, he didn’t know Ma Xinlan was an underground member of the Communist Party of China. In order to conquer China, Japan brutally started Nanjing Massacre. Then Liu Changling safeguarded the country at the rise of his life and also expressed his love to Ma Xinlan who refused him although she was moved. In a coordinated operation with the Eighth Route Army, Liu Changling’s airplane was shot down to the ground. Ma Xinlan was very sad because she thought Liu Changling sacrificed. When he who was saved by the Eighth Route Army appeared in front of her, Ma Xinlan burst into tears. The lovers in low places were comrades-in-arms when they faced enemies. What was a great pity was that they couldn’t be couples from where they stood.
