Synopsis

Gao Yaozong(the childhood was acted by Wu Lei), born in Gao family with a foreign firm in southern Fujian, was recalcitrant, weak and sickly from his childhood. His parents gave him a wedding to counteract his bad luck in 1934. His wife, Lin Qiuju, was 9 years older than him, which was commonly called Older Wife. Lin Qiuju was a gentle and virtuous girl. Although she didn’t enjoy the due love and was abused in Gao family, she was industrious and thrifty in managing the household, willing to bear the burden of hard works. In order to complete the promise she made for Gao family, she came to Taiwan to look for her husband for the family union, but she failed. However, she was strong to train herself in the bitter experience and then rebuilt the economy of Gao family. Although she was an ordinary and insignificant woman, she became great because of a series of challenges and was respected by the whole Gao family. In the end, she won her husband back while realizing the reunion with her son.
